As the coronavirus continues to spread, we are confined to our houses in hopes to flatten the curve. And in doing so, many people aren't going outside at all even just to get fresh air for 5 minutes. I have been quite good at going outside for more than an hour a day, and this is how you can too.
Recently the rain has cleared up where I live and it has become sunny and warm outside. This has allowed me to have a mini picnic in my backyard. This is a good way to not only have fun while taking advantage of a good photo op, but also to get that vitamin D that you need. You don't need other people to do this, you don't even need much. Just take a blanket outside, some fruit, maybe sandwich, earphones or speaker and a couple bottles of water.
Since we are stuck in quarantine, many of us have been taking naps or sleeping later because there is nothing to do. A great way to get the best out of naps is by taking a couple blankets and sleep outside on the grass or chairs you may have. This kind of coincides with having a picnic outside, but this time you are just taking a nap. This is a 10 out of 10 experience especially if it's under a tree and warm enough to be comfortable without a jacket or extra blanket.
Honestly, online classes wouldn't be half as bad if we went outside and had your Zoom class in your backyard. Shoot, you can even mix a couple of these ideas and have a Zoom picnic with your classmates during a class call.
Have a Netflix party outside, call up your friends and add them to the movie you guys want to watch. This would probably be better later in the day when the sun is not at its peak, it might be a little chillier later in the day, but it's a good way to socialize, get fresh air, and just have a good time.
Although we are very limited in what we can do, we should still take the opportunity to sit outside or open the window to listen to the birds chirp, and feel the breeze everyday. This is a good way to stay healthy mentally and physically as we are not getting our normal amount of exercise through walking around campus and sunlight everyday.
