Before the girl’s soccer season began, the team played games with some higher level teams in hopes of consistently scoring goals, because they needed to finish stronger. This included the third annual Firebird classic tournament, held at Fremont high school, which helped the girls prepare for this season. Along with that competition, they played 10 preseason games before winter break, and three tournament games. Starting off the season with 2 ties and 1 loss, the team hopes to reach CCS by placing first or second in the B bracket.
Silver Creek played San Jose High School on January 17th, 2020. The game started off slow in the first few minutes, later picking up the pace. The first half ended with the score 0-1 to San Jose. There was a lot of intensity, and in the end they managed to pull it up to 1-1.
Throughout the game, the players struggled to pass shots without being intercepted, seemingly discouraged. Another player, Isabella Santiago ‘20 said “Many players didn’t play to their full potential.”
In the girl’s second soccer game against San Jose on February 4, Silver Creek won by a landslide with a score of 8-0. Santiago, who scored four of the eight goals, credited Bailey Moseley ‘23 for assisting, by marking San Jose’s number one player incredibly well.
Moseley has been training hard and playing to her strengths during games. Orlando Bentecor said “Bailey is probably one of the best in the league. Physically and mentally I think she is one of the freshman that could be playing on varsity next year.” The girls still have a whole season of games to play, and hopefully will be able to reach CCS.
