When there is a fight the first thing, people usually do is pull out their phone and start recording. Although some people do record to have evidence of it, there really is no need for a crowd. People crowd around screaming “Fight! Fight!” or they just watch people get beat up instead of intervening and helping out. It's not right.
When I see people crowding around the fighters the thought “the carnal nature of man” goes through my head. We are not Romans inside a gladiator stadium. We are not savages. We are supposed to be civil humans that help each other in times of need. It's sad that most high schoolers rush to record fights to post online as proof of witnessing something “cool” finally happening at school when there are plenty of things to be excited about, other than watching someone you know get pummeled.
Recently there was a snapchat of an Overfelt student having a seizure and bleeding out due to a stab wound. With a caption “dang my boy really got stabbed.” Is he really your boy if you're going to just stand there and record? The fact that people will record a snapchat and their reaction instead of rushing in and helping their “friend” out shows that social media affects our morality.

In the world today, we try to get as many likes or retweets as possible for doing stupid challenges like the Kylie Jenner challenge. We should use Social Media as a forum to spread peace, love and positivity rather than violence and hate.
