The upcoming Disney Plus streaming service will be receiving all new Marvel TV Shows starring celebrities from the big screen. From WandaVision to The Falcon and Winter Soldier, Disney Plus will be stacked with new shows. But the one show that stands out to me the most is the reported Hawkeye show, starring Jeremy Renner himself.
The limited series is expected to follow Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye who will pass the torch to a new Hawkeye, Kate Bishop. In the comics, Bishop is a member of the Young Avengers and, like Barton, is highly skilled at archery. She typically carries two battle staffs and trick arrows and is traditionally trained in jiu jitsu.
As of now there is no word on who will be playing Bishop, when it is expected to launch or how many episodes the limited series will contain, but the streaming is scheduled to arrive later this year. Previously announced Marvel spin-offs for Disney Plus are rumored to be somewhere between six and eight episodes long.
Renner will star as Barton in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame and is likely to take up the new mantle of Ronin. We still don’t know when the series will take place (pre-Endgame or post-Endgame) because Hawkeye is one of the many characters whose fate is still unknown.
Well before news of Disney Plus launching, there were already talks of a Hawkeye show. Renner was often asked if Hawkeye would get a stand-alone movie, but Renner said he was open to a series. “I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world,” Renner said at Silicon Valley Comic Con in 2016. “These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore character more recently."
After watching Avengers: Endgame, my excitement for this show definitely spiked. You can see Hawkeye next in Endgame, but make sure to look out for him and many other characters when Disney Plus launches in Fall 2019.
