After intense matches, close games, and endless amount of determination, the Silver Creek Lady Raiders Varsity soccer team ends the first half of their season with 3 wins and 4 loses. As the Raiders kick off their season playing against the Lincoln Lions, their confidence still stayed alive as they came short with a score of 2-4. It was an excellent game. They are known to be a second half team, and surely enough it showed on the field, they stepped up their game with beautiful passing, and lots of communication. This loss didn’t defeat their spirits for the rest of the season to come. “Honestly it wasn't how I wanted to start the season, but I feel like it turned out for the better. I feel it helped the team take a look back on how we play and gave us an idea of what we need to do with the rest of our season.” Gina Garcia. The next two games was a win for the Raiders beating Braham High School 2-1 and Delmar High School 1-0. The following week wasn’t in favor for the Raider. Being on the road the ladies fell short playing against Westmont High School 0-3, they played one of their best that night, but feel short. Playing against our rivals, Overfelt High School the weather had a huge effect on every single girls performance on the field. Playing in the pour rain with heavy winds lead the finally score being 1-2. In an important match for the Raiders against Prospect High School 3 goals were in during the first half, and feel short in time not being able to get a goal in leading silver creek to a score of 3-0. On the lady's last game of the first half of the season at home, the raiders played against Evergreen High School winning our rivals 2-1. The lady's played their best game against Westmont high school. Even though they were defended by a lose, all the girls on the field can all agree they have never played better than they did that night. ”The first time we played Westmont was like no other game, We came out playing like a team and that’s what made us to want to keep playing like that.” Jasmin Espinoza. The leading scorer by the mid of the season is held by Senior Alyssa Tinoco. Leading the pack with 6 goals. She is also ranked 6th in CCS stanning for most goals in league. When on the field she puts in her all, she has passion and dedication when it comes to benefiting the team. “Soccer means everything to me. It’s made me who I am today. It’s given me confidence, strength, heart and so much more. Soccer was and is always there for me when no one and nothing else isn’t. It’s become more than a sport to me and more of a lifestyle to me.” Alyssa Tinoco. Only half way through their season the chances of making CCS are still alive. With 7 games left in their season, and a varsity soccer player myself I know we can make it. |
