Finally, after three long years, we have been blessed with new music from the always mysterious Frank Ocean.
The new song titled “DHL” is one of the two songs that Frank Ocean previewed on Saturday on Beats1 Radio. He released the song a couple of hours later to the public. The beat is filled with drums and synths that are mixed greatly and leave a psychedelic vibe. The song transforms throughout the four and a half minute track, while still sticking to its roots.
Frank Ocean’s voice is beautiful with his signature half sing half rap. This distracts from the very sexual lyrics, about him sleeping with both men and women. He also sprinkles in details of his lifestyle of the rich and drugs.
Theories have started to rise from the cover art. The picture is of him, almost naked, sitting on a chair with a plastic bag over his head, with weights on his ankles. The pose and picture are very weird but also matches one of the thirteen silhouettes on the bottom right of the cover. People are saying that a 13 song album is on the way, and DHL is one of those songs.
The song is worth a listen, and if this means an album is on the way, I am excited to see what the man has to offer after his long absence.
