Goodbye winter, and hello spring. Winter is known for being the season of death, while spring comes with the comforting meaning of new life. You might have heard the phrase “spring cleaning” as a practice of thoroughly cleaning your home. You dust, sweep, and mop your house. However, people don’t realize that they should cleanse themselves too. It is good to focus on yourself, mentally, physically, and emotionally. It might be hard to find ways to do this. So these are a couple of things that you can try.
1. Work It Out
I know that most people don’t find exercise relaxing nor fun. Nobody wants to run a mile or do pull ups. We all know the sound of the word “exercise’’ doesn’t sound too pleasing. But, people don’t know that this is such a stress reliever--working out is one of the best ways to exercise physically and mentally. You don’t have to do crossfit or pilates in order to get in a good sweat. Walking, jogging, or even stretching twice a day can give you an opportunity to take a break from what’s weighing down on you. By doing this, you’re taking time to concentrate on making yourself the best version of yourself. By actively trying to improve your mistakes, putting in work to make yourself stronger, you learn how to also approach your mental health. Plus, it never hurts to get your endorphins up!
2. Tune It Out & Tune in With Yourself (What’s our angle?)
Take time for yourself. But also make sure you're able to balance all aspects of your life.
You, and everyone else, should know that it’s okay to put yourself first and to say ‘no’, especially if your heart isn’t 100% in it. Saying ‘no’ also help you build your confidence as shocking as it is. Using this word shows that you are sticking up for yourself, not letting anyone bring you down. Never rush growth. Things won’t ever change overnight, but if you’re willing to put in the time and work to recognize your own faults and constantly improve yourself, no one else can stand in your way. If people neglect you, reject them. Rise above the noise!
3. Feel The Beat
From the drumbeats of our ancient ancestors to today’s unlimited streaming services, music is an integral part of the human experience. Now, I have never met anyone who doesn’t like music, that’s because there is nothing not like about it. Music is both comforting and gives you something to think about when you’re contemplating who the next, best version of yourself.
4. Snip, Snip
Honestly, one of the best things to do is to cut off the negative and toxic people in your life. The word toxic does get thrown around quite often nowadays on the internet, but it does hold an ounce of truth. Deciding to exclude people from your life might be one of the hardest things to do, especially if you’re sensitive or you feel like you’ve outgrown the people around you. Many people don’t realize that the people they are close to and rely on are the ones holding them back. They may abuse your kindness and loyalty, and might not even know it. The best suggestion is to try to talk it out, but if this habit continues, that’s when you should cut them off. You deserve to spend time with people that help you grow, that want you to be the best versions of yourself, and that allow you to feel like the most authentic version of yourself.
