When the internet first came out only the rich and the wealthy were able to afford it, but now, it’s rare to see someone who doesn’t have access to the internet. Now, pretty much anyone can go online through their phone, tablet, or computer. It's amazing how much the internet impacts all of us. Now that almost everyone has access to the internet through their devices, we must focus on a new issue: we are now trying to limit our connections with one of our greatest resources.
Having access to the internet is an essential tool to have, so why do parents and teachers both complain about us always being on our phone? Now that a lot of people have access internet, it has become more of a distraction. For example, when parents and teachers see you looking at your phone, their first thought is that you’re not being productive or you’re off task. Most of the time this is the case though, because a lot of us are glued to our screens being unproductive. But it’s really irritating when you are trying to be productive and you get lectured for just being on your phone.
While the only bad thing I can think of having access to the internet is it just being a distraction, there are so many advantages of having access to the internet. You have an infinite plethora of information at your fingertips, you can communicate a lot easier, and you can use it in emergency situations. The internet has so much information and has helped me deal with many situations countless times. Though the saying goes, “The internet isn’t always right,” it really means that sometimes the internet won’t have all the answers to your questions in your day to day lives. There are credible and reliable sources and guides that can help you through your need.
