Winter is here. With the new season comes new trends. If you go outside and look on the street you will see nothing but comfortable people.
Sweatpants
Loose fitting sweatpants have come back. In the past few years, tapers slim fitted joggers have been seen on everyone. Taking comfort over style, many fashion icons have been seen in baggy pants this season. Forget the taper, everyone is cozy this season. You can get sweatpants virtually anywhere from Nike to Puma.

Champion
Champion hoodies and sweats have managed to grow even more popular since last winter. Pastels, neons, and primaries- these highly-sought after sweatshirts come in just about every color imaginable. Ever since Urban Outfitters adopted Champion and made them trendy, prices have drastically increased, going from 20 bucks at Target to a hefty $65. Gaining popularity by collabing with popular streetwear brands such as Supreme, Bape, and Vetements, Champion has inched its way to the top and now stands as a timeless fashion piece, with its iconic and vintage aesthetic taking teens by storm.

Trainers
Clunkier shoes have been making sneaking their way up into the shelves of stores as high end brands started to produce them, with Balenciaga coming out with the triple S sneakers for $795 and the fashion icon himself, Kanye West producing his own take on the dad shoes, the yeezy waverunner priced at $300. Sleeker silhouettes can move aside as clunky shoes are taking over this winter's fashion trend. Nike has released the Air Max ‘97, a clunkier shoe compared to the shoes they have put out within recent years. Another example would be the Reebok classics. Kanye has created his own iteration in is, the yeezy powerphase. As fashion icons celebrities have been spotted rocking retro’d classics catching the eyes of hypebeasts and bringing it back into trend. There also cheaper alternatives as you can just buy New Balance which produces the same concept for $30-$50.

Sherpa
Sherpa jackets seem to be just about everywhere this season, from Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters to Target and Walmart. Even Victoria’s Secret Pink is in on the action by including an oversized and fluffy blanket-like coat to their winter collection. It’s easy to see why sherpa is trending during this winter season, who wouldn’t want to walk around in a fuzzy blanket all day and call it fashion? Sherpa-lined coats and jean jackets have been winter staples for ages, but it seems that pure-sherpa coats are just now emerging and picking up popularity.

Puffy jacket
Puffy jackets are huge this winter, and they’re serving major throwback vibes to elementary school, the last time these coats were deemed socially acceptable. It’s now officially cute to stroll up to school sporting an obnoxiously big, marshmallowy jacket paired with some distressed jeans. This trend reminds me of the North Face vests that inevitably show up every year, with a similar puffy material and feel. 2017 has cozy vibes in full-force, with seemingly every trend revolving around warmth, and ditching previously popularized clingy and more so “flattering” pieces.

Lettuce Edge Top
These ever-so elegant tops made their big debut back in September and have only grown increasingly popular since. Seen on everything from turtlenecks to crop tops, ruffle detailing is everywhere this winter. It’s an effortless way to add detail to an otherwise boring basic, and not to mention these tops compliment layered looks particularly well, so you won’t have to bare the cold this season in the name of fashion. Although subtle, these lettuce-like ruffles sure do make a statement.
