We are just 6 weeks away from the biggest superhero movie of the century and Marvel found a way to sneak in one more trailer for us to dissect. Avengers: Endgame is one of the most hyped up movies of the century with its predecessor, Avengers: Infinity War, made 1 Billion dollars in bow office and left on a major cliffhanger. Lucky we have one more trailer to sink our teeth into before the big day. So here’s what the trailer had to offer.
The trailer didn’t show a lot of new stuff and that's a good thing. It allows the audience to go into the theaters not knowing what to expect. Instead it showed more of the same scenes with just a couple new ones to get all of us excited. It starts with Tony Stark narrating talking about how long its been since he first became Iron Man and everything since then. It also shows footage of Iron Man stuck on the ship in the middle of space and him trying to pull off one more surprise. After that Peggy Carter begins to narrate over as it shows flashbacks for Captain America, Hawkeye, and Thor. The last sequence of these flashback scenes shows everyone dying from the snap and Thor talking about the guilt he felt from it. After that segment we get into the real good stuff.

We then see Black Widow and Cap sitting in a room at the Avengers building after the decimation in Infinity War. Steve Rogers then says, “most people move on… but not us”. This is a great call back to the Superbowl trailer we got earlier this year where Steve said these exact lines throughout the last trailer. After this line we see Scott Lang who appears to be out of the quantum realm and is very confused with what has happened to the world since he was gone. Following that scene they show us a ship flying over a city which appears to be an Avengers ship and Hawkeye having a nice moment in the ship comforting Black Widow. I don’t understand where they are going but it does appear that they are ready for battle with how nervous they look. This is when the trailer gets intense. We see Hawkeye running through a red tunnel with an explosion happening right behind him and then we see the best shot of the trailer in my opinion. Rocket Raccoon is hanging on the side of War Machine with that devious smile of his while holding what appears to be a new weapon. This was a perfectly time shot for the trailer as it time in the music for the trailer and showed us a scene that got everyone off their feet. The trailer then continues to show amazing shots of Nebula in a decimated battle zone, Thor holding his powerful stormbreaker, and Cap adjusting his shield in the same battle zone that we say nebula in. This has a feel of a final battle and with how banged up Cap looked it appears he’s had a rough battle. Right after this scene we see Ant Man jumping over a little pencil and diving over the edge of a new area. Who knew diving over a pencil would look so intense. While all this is all happening we have all the Avengers saying over the action sequences, “Whatever it takes”. This appears to be the main idea the Avengers will go on for this movie as they are willing to make sacrifices to succeed.
Lastly we see the same shot that we saw at the end of the super bowl trailer. Except this time when they are walking through the Avengers building they have the quantum realm suits that have been hinted all over the internet. This actually reveals a big plot point because now most people have a good idea that there will be some form of time travel in the movie. After they have the outro music and show the title we see an intense stare down with Thor and Captain Marvel. After the long stare down Thor finishes it by saying, “I like this one”, and giving a little humor to the trailer.
Overall I loved the way they handled the trailer. Marvel has done a great job of spoiling almost nothing about the movie through promotion and trailers. Apparently they’ve only showed scenes from the first 15 mins of the film in trailers to avoid people discovering any plot points. Even though they’ve shown almost nothing they have still found a way to get us hyped just on footage from the first act. We see amazing shot of every single character, new suits, and how devastated they are after the lose to Thanos. One thing I will say is that we haven’t seen a lot of Thanos himself besides the one scene in the first trailer. It seems like their keeping his part in this film a secret and that's a good thing. Also the one person who seems to getting a lot of screen time in this film is Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye). He has always been one of the forgotten Avengers in the films and I’m glad that the Russo Brothers are going to bring him to the spotlight. Writers on the film have stated how Infinity War had a lot to due with Thanos and the movie was almost like his origin story. But they have also stated that Endgame will focus on the original six avengers. I’m glad they are taking this approach since they are almost like the leaders of the group and they blame themselves heavily on what happened. It will be interesting to see how they handle that blame but I hope the other Avengers like Ant-Man, War Machine, and Rocket Raccoon get their rightful amount of screen-time. Also I hope to not see as much humor as we are used to in Marvel Films. But I’m certain that the Russo Brothers will deliver a masterpiece that will affect us emotionally on many levels.
