The Good Place, for those who have not seen it, is a super funny show that revolves around a group of people who believe they have ended up in the “Good Place” because of the good deeds that they had done on Earth. Only to find out that the “Good Place” is a new way of torture designed by the demons from the “Bad Place.” They’re the first test group for this new torture technique but the show embodies their teamwork to improve themselves and save each other from the “Bad Place.”
This show is super hilarious, and I think the directors did amazing in casting the character. The main character, Eleanor Shellstrop, is a “lone-wolf” who pays no mind to others around her preferring to watch out for herself and herself only.
Then there’s Chidi Anagonye a philosophy professor whose indecisiveness tortures other people around him. He plays a major role in helping others become ethically better.
There is Tahani Al-Jamil, a sophisticated socialite who is overshadowed by her sister and overlooked by her parents but tries desperately to get their approval.
Last in the test group is Jason Mendoza, a failed EDM DJ from Florida that makes profit by selling drugs to college students. He’s not the brightest but he does keep a positive vibe even when the situation doesn’t warrant it.
Two other important characters are Michael, the demon that connived the new torture device to prove to his boss that he is a capable architect and Janet, the source of all information and knowledge. She acts as a personal assistant to all the humans inhabiting the “Good Place.”
The first season of this show is my favorite because the plot twist of the “Good Place” actually being the “Bad Place” was really surprising, I never expected Chidi’s indecisiveness to be the reason he’s in the “Bad Place.” The second season was sort of redundant so I am really excited for the third season because it is a chance for a fresh start to the show.
But, the third season is just as slow as the second season.
Along with the fact that the group’s relationship is so different from how it was when they were in the “Good Place,” I just want the show to get on with it and to the part where they become best friends and help each other keep out of the “Bad Place.”
This show is definitely binge-worthy and I love that the episodes are only 30 minutes long. It makes for an easy watch and it allows you to catch up quicker than if the episodes were and hour long. If you are not planning on watching this show, “what the fork!”, get on it.
