FINALLY! Finally, after seven long months, NFL football is back and it couldn't have started any better. Lamar Jackson, the second year quarterback for the Ravens, finally proved that he is not a running back by Destroying the Dolphins. Throwing 5 touchdowns and over 300 yards, got him a perfect quarterback rating, making him the youngest to ever do so. I'm excited to see how he does for the rest of the season.
Week 1 was not as friendly to the Browns though, watching them get beat 43-13 by the Titans was a let down. The only highlight was Odel Becham Jr’s 2.2 million watch that he wore during the game. The Browns did turn this around however by beating the Jets in week 2, showing that this new team isn't a bust. Definitely a team I’ll be paying attention too.
The Patriots. They won. Both games. They’re the Patriots, what else do you need to know? Oh wait they have Antonio Brown now. The former Raider has had quite a rocky start. He called another team member from the Raiders a racial slur, got released by the Riders, got signed by the Patriots hours later, and then, the next day, got accused of, not once, but twice for sexual assault. Mind you all this happened in a span of 4 days and the season didn’t even start yet. The Patriots haven't said a word about this but at this point they do whatever they want (Update: Both Nike and The Patriots have cut Antonio Brown right after week 2, making him lose about 80 Million dollars in total).
Going back to the Raiders, they proved that they didn't need the very toxic Mr. Brown by winning their first game against the Broncos. And man was the stadium, as the kids say today, “lit”, yelling chants against the former Raider.
They then got destroyed the following week by Patrick Mahomes’s Chiefs. It wasn’t much of a surprise, seeing that he was last year's MVP. If you have him in your fantasy league get ready to make money because him and his team are looking like they’re about to go on another great run.
Can’t say this about other teams’ quarterbacks though, which are all seeming to fall apart, or straight up retire mid-game, like the Colts’ former quarterback, Andrew Luck did. We won't be able to see some of our favorites like Drew Brees (Saints) or Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) due to injury. Oh and don't forget the ones that are just plain bad *ahem* Eli Manning and Cam Newton *ahem.
Overall, these first 2 weeks have got me pumped for new memes, rising players (looking at you Kyler Murray), and just great football to be played.
