October 3rd 2018 , the famous pop rock band, 5 Seconds Of Summer performed at the Event Center in San Jose. Fans were in line since 8am and some even camped out the night before. Later on, the line was wrapped around San Jose State campus. Once 7 p.m. hit, the doors opened and the disaster began.
Fans in the back were very eager to get in so they started to push towards the doors. Everybody was squished together and some people couldn’t breathe. Once Fans got through the door, the fight for front row began. Those with VIP were already in their assigned spots. Soon, VIP was getting pushed around by General Admission(GA). Those who had VIP were starting to get irritated and started yelling at GA that they didn’t deserve it. One fan with a GA ticket was dehydrated and asked the security guard for water. |
A VIP fan yelled out, “Then leave the floor and get water. Nobody cares” to her. A lot of VIP were yelling out “If you can't handle it then leave.”
Not too long after, fans were getting carried out of the pit by security. It was either because they couldn’t breathe from everyone squishing each other or because she was dehydrated. Fans were fainting and having panic attacks while in the pit.
A lot of people blame the band for everything that happened, when in reality it was the venues fault for hiring a team that wasn’t prepared for the event. The only thing security was securing were girls’ numbers. They were constantly flirting with girls in line and sometimes even taking out their phone while working and record the long line. They would be “flexing” on their snapchat story.
Some of the blame also goes to some of fans for not being cooperative. In the end, Some fans had fun while others had an experience that they’ll never forget, but not in the good way.
