Every year, Silver Creek High School ASB hosts Winterfest, a student talent show, and I had the honor of attending their second show.
Winterfest started with an explosive performance group “Thirteen”. They danced to a mash up of seven Korean songs, the show included more singing and dancing by other great performers including Timothy Wong dancing to “Begin” by BTS with much emotion that conveyed through his dance moves, and Aayush Pagaria and Catherine Do singing “Too Good At Goodbyes” by Sam Smith, harmonizing together with great ease.
After intermission, the entire audience was taken back by Charlyne Gabatin’s angelic voice singing “Best Part” by Daniel Cesar and H.E.R. She hit every note and sang with great confidence. Performing after Justin Luu and Chris Rico, performed a duet, singing “She Was Mine” by AJ Rafael and Jesse Barrera making every girl feel like they were theirs.
There was also guest performance from Piedmont Hills High School called Paradox Motions (PXM). They wowed us with their hillarious “types of friends you have in high school” skit/ dance performance, themed with Bruno Mars music. Following after by an army of the Polynesian Club, performing their dances and featuring the boys doing a Haka dance.
To close the show off, there was a special performance by Choreo Club, with their performance having short features by the club officers and a very special guest dancing with them at the end. Some say their guest dancer was Santa Claus himself, while others may believe that it was Mr. Espino.
Paired off with the wonderful performances, there were hilarious jokes being told before each act by the amazing MC’s of the night, Catherine Le and Ashley Vu.

Outside Raider Hall there was a beautiful display of decorated Christmas trees, each designed by groups of ASB leadership students. When entering the theater to watch the showcase, each audience member is given a ticket to vote for their favorite tree, of which 2019’s christmas tree won.
There was a full house for each show and all of the performances wanted to make you get up and dance or sing with them. The crowd certainly agreed as they were so energetic that you couldn’t help cheering just as loud as they did.
Winterfest ended with a big bang. Good job leadership!
