Going into this season, the wrestling team is preparing for tough competition and setting their goals for the rest of the season. Last year the wrestling team won all their dual meets in A-League, putting a target on their back. Top placers Eric Sanchez ‘18, Simon Lopez ‘18, and Estevan Sanchez ‘20 have good things coming this season.
November 17th the preseason Central Coast Section (CCS) rankings came out revealing what everyone’s expectations should be. Eric Sanchez is ranked 2nd at 115 pounds, Simon Lopez ranked 2nd at 138 pounds, and Estevan Sanchez ranked 5th at 132 pounds.

Although our outstanding few have many goals to accomplish by the end of the season, there are also some freshmen that have high hopes for this year. Melissa Posas, a hard working female wrestler, has been showing the coaches that she will perform this year.
“I'm super stoked for this season, and I know that I’m going to have a good year. With the coaching staff and supportive teammates, I hope that great things come of this season and I can grow as a wrestler.”

Another freshman, Santino Topete, who has been wrestling since he was 6 years old has a lot to bring to the table this season. Being a light weight it gives him a variety of styles of workout partners since there are many Silver Creek wrestlers at the 106-pound weight class
Compared to previous years, the girl's team is pretty small. Strong females wrestlers graduating leaves the girl's team slim. However, with new pickups like Posas and Kaylynn Ly ‘21, the girls show promise to a new generation of girls wrestling and will do exceptionally by the end of the season. |
"In all, the wrestling team hopes to have an amazing season as they did last year. From what the coaches see, the preseason training has shown them that there is a lot of room for improvement..." |
