Star Wars: it’s a good series. It’s got action, fiction, romance, and adventure. To many, the name is synonymous with a multi-billion dollar franchise. However, to me it’s a fun time, where I can turn my brain off to watch two people try to kill each other with laser swords.
All things considered, I’ve never found myself bored watching of one of these films, and I think that’s because that these stories are all very well told. It’s a simple premise about good versus evil-and that is all. Occasionally, someone good may turn evil, in the case of Revenge of the Sith, or sometimes evil steals the spotlight, in films such as the The Last Jedi, but it’s never deviated from that path.
I can’t express how little I care if Luke isn’t the overpowered Jedi master people hoped to be, and ended up just sullying around after a crisis of faith. I could also care less if Anakin didn’t just kill the men, but the women and children too. I just want to have a good time.
Now you may be thinking, “Geez this kid sounds SUPER sadistic.” You’d be right in thinking that. See, the action in Star Wars is brutal, and that's what makes it so entertaining to watch. Everyone’s out to kill each other: it’s one thing that Star Wars is consistent in doing. It’s always interesting to see some space karate.
However, Star Wars has developed in a negative way for me, mostly due to the overwhelmingly, overbearingly vocal minority of the fanbase whining about how they want George Lucas back to write some new scripts.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Lucas is not that great of a screenwriter. Even he had no faith in himself, often thinking the first movie would be panned and didn’t show up to the premiere, and the prequels… well, we all know how those turned out.
Anyway that’s all. I just wanted to talk about Star Wars for a little bit. It’s a series that played a big part in my childhood, and it pains me to see people hate them now because it’s changing. Things do change over time and soon the movies and characters people relate to won’t stay the same. Appreciate the new stuff we get now, because pretty soon Star Wars is going to end as everything else does. So just have some fun.
