Bloom by The Paper Kites
Personally, I’ve never heard of this group before seeing it on the recommendations for this playlist. However, as the first few seconds of “Bloom” started, I knew that I would really love it. The song is really relaxing and slow with sweet lyrics to accompany it. My favorite verse of this song was “When the evening pulls the sun down and the day is almost through, oh, the whole world it is sleeping but my world is you.”
Self Interview by cupcakKe
Though a more explicit song than I’m used to listening to, I’d definitely recommend listening to “Self Interview” if you’re willing to listen to a harsh, yet honest commentary about our world. cupcakKe’s lyrics are blunt and meaningful, commentating on our society, its double standards, and current real world issues; something we can’t find find that often in the music industry anymore. I loved the way her rap was surrounded by her own “self interview”, with lyrics like “I look in the mirror, and I gotta ask myself, am I staying true to me.”

You Are The Reason by Calum Scott
One of my favorite songs on this collection, “You Are The Reason” is an sweet love song that I would add to my own personal playlist. From the vocals to backing track, everything about this song just pulls me in and keeps me listening. The chorus was my favorite part of the song where Scott sings “I’d climb every mountain and swim every ocean, just to be with you and fix what I’ve broken.”
Wolves by Selena Gomez and Marshmello
Ever since “Wolves” was released a couple months ago, I’ve always been stuck on the lyrics and their meaning in the song. The one thing that stuck out to me the most in the lyrics was when Selena Gomez sings“I've been running through the jungle, I've been running with the wolves to get to you...I've been down the darkest alleys, saw the dark side of the moon to get to you.” I love the way she sang these verses, emphasizing the struggle even through her vocals.

Finesse by Bruno Mars (feat. Cardi B)
This song is super upbeat and energetic which makes it easy to hype up to. This is definitely a song I would play when I’m getting ready or when I’m doing my homework since it’s really energizing. Bruno Mars has always been an artist that I enjoyed listening to from his singles from his 2010 album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" to his most recent in 2016 album 24K Magic.
Press Restart by WALK THE MOON
I loved listening to “Press Restart” because it was a breath of fresh air to what I’m used to listening to. The eccentric indie-rock tune was relaxing, yet fun to jam out which was one of the highlights I noticed in this song. The verses I liked the most was “I am not the subject, I am the experiment, I am mad scientist, invent my way out of this.” It was inspiring to listen to with the idea that we could free ourselves and have a new beginning if we tried.

Instagram by DEAN
I’m not one to listen to songs in other languages, and though I have no idea what this song is talking about, listening to it was a pleasant surprise. It has a really familiar feel to it, almost as if I’ve heard it before. I really enjoy this song because it has a really soft, relaxing vibe that you can really chill too. The singer has a real Adam Levine feel to him I’ve never heard anyone that sounds like Levine.
Best Part by Daniel Caesar
This is definitely a song you would chill to, with the slow melody of the guitar and the soft voice of the artist at the beginning of the song having you feeling super relaxed and carefree. I’m really transfixed by the lyrics,“You're the Tylenol I take when my head hurts,” I found this verse to be super original because I have never heard an artist refer to his love that way. His other line, “You’re the water when I’m stuck in the desert,” is cliche but his comment about his girl being the medicine he needs leaves major feels.
