As the school year comes to an end all the end of the year festivities begin. F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.S, Creekchella, senior ditch day, but the one everyone looks forward to during their high school career is prom. As a junior I am excited to get to attend my junior prom, and even more so for my senior prom. But I wonder, why are people taking pictures weeks in advance to their prom?
I believe prom should be a one day occasion. It’s tradition to wake up early for hair and makeup that will probably take up hours to do if you’re on schedule. Then it’s time for pictures.
If your going with a group of friends or just a date it should be at a place where everyone agrees on going to. And yes I know there is a down if taking pictures the day of prom somewhere popular because everyone goes there, it’s a sign to not be like everyone and be creative and go somewhere no one else is going to go. Why be basic?
What’s the point of stressing yourself out for “the perfect picture.” Ever heard of editing? If your pictures don’t turn out the way you like, there’s an easy solution called Facetune.
Besides all the editing and the perfection in your hair, makeup, or stressing over the perfect angle, you only get to attend prom for your high school chapter in life. Don’t blow it by stressing. Enjoy prom, as upperclassmen prom is a rewarding we get for stressing so much over finals, college apps, SAT’s, so why stress over a picture? Let this be a memory for yourself. It’s not a competition for who has the best dress, or the most likes on instagram.
For everyone going to prom this year I hope every single one of you enjoy your day, and remember to smile big for the camera.
