The Palestine-Israel conflict has been underway for several years, it has recently resurfaced and put under the spotlight of global politics. The conflict originates from both occupations struggling for what land is “rightfully theirs.” Palestinians are generations of those who have settled into the state of Israel. Israel’s occupation has actively clustered the Palestinian, predominantly Muslim, population and carried out several severe attacks and raids as a way to claim their land--land that the Zionist population of Israel says is theirs through religious affiliation. The numbers of Palestinian casualties easily outnumber those of Israeli forces.
As this conflict proceeds, recently the United States made the executive decision of removing the PLO (Palestine Liberation Operation) from their diplomatic office--they accused Palestine of not making enough proactive efforts to come to peace with Israel. Israel and the United States, however, have a strong economic relationship that could have easily inspired the US’s decision.
The removal of the PLO results in this: Palestine will no longer be getting relief funds as a result of Israel’s many pursuits. These pursuits have been extreme enough to be accused by the ICC (International Criminal Court) to be deemed crimes against humanity. The death count of Israeli casualties is easily overshadowed by that of Palestine’s.
Palestine has seen the removal of their presence in the eyes of the US as delegitimizing to the struggles their people have had to endure through the last years due to Israel. With that being said, Palestine stated that the extermination of the PLO was a blatant act of war.
It seems as if the United States keeps finding itself entangled with increasingly aggressive international predicaments since the presidency of Donald Trump and his administration.
