Going to Silver Creek HS can be very fun and boring because who doesn’t hate school sometimes. However, something I love about our school is Club Rush Week. Which is usually in September. Three days that week, different clubs come out during lunch to get people to join. Three years ago Latino Student Union (LSU) finally reestablished itself as a club for the first time in awhile. Yes, our school is diverse, but you never really hear about latinos making a club. The club's purpose was to provide a safe place, teaching students how to love your culture while participating in activities/events.
When I came to Silver Creek I was so excited to join because I have never been in something and let me just say I haven’t stopped being till today. I think you should join this club for many reasons, first starting off with the fact that you don’t have to be latino to join because ANYONE is welcomed. Also this club is a judge free zone, the point is to come to meetings and express your feelings. We like to use our meetings and events as unforgettable high school memories. Something pretty dope about LSU is how we like to bring young youth like students involved in helping not only our world but our community become a better place. During the winter we do clothing drives and food. Pick up trash, create fun events anyone is welcome to whether its for Dia de Los Muertos or Christmas.
We want students to walk out of our meetings with smiles. Every single officer is involved in bettering our club each year along with the amazing advisors who might be some of your spanish teachers. We put all of our info in our slides throughout our meetings so you have each of our contacts if you need anything or someone to talk to. Something many high school students struggle with is finding that safe place at school or even in life, also just trying to fit in. LSU teaches and shows students how to grow and make a group of people you can call family. I hope to see you at our next meeting, just stop by to see what all this excitement is about!
