From these shorts, fans got to preview the sort of entertainment they were in for. The show is an animated program with four main characters: 5.0.5, the failed, yet lovable, blue bear experiment. Demenica, a human and reptile hybrid whose only two jobs seem to be fawning over their boss and causing chaos. Dr. Flug, a meek, paper bag wearing, scientist who makes weapons to sell to villains. Then there is their boss, Black Hat, a literal demon from Hell. He is pure evil and his company deals in selling weapons for villains to destroy superheros.
In 2019, Cartoon Network is set to air a new show called Villainous created by Alan Ituriel. Initially the cartoon first aired in Mexico, Villanos in Spanish, and now is being given the chance to air in the United States. What’s so interesting about the way Cartoon Network decided to market this show was how they released ten ‘shorts’, one minute long videos, on YouTube and the Cartoon Network app. With these clips alone, the fan base around this show began to develop.

So far, there doesn’t seem to have a general plot fans can speculate about other than the characters making experimental weapons to sell to other villains. Despite the lack of plot, the shorts did a great job in exposing us to how their world works and the idea of villains being able to buy their own weapons from Black Hat Industries.
I, like many others in the Villainous fanbase, found the show through fan-made comics and fan-fictions which shows how powerful the fandom community really is. I definitely recommend checking out the show when it airs (along with watching the shorts) and despite the show being for an audience of 10 to 14 year olds, the characters are quirky and worth a watch. You’re never too old to enjoy something Villainous.
