Black Panther (February 16)
Director: Ryan Coogler
Cast: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o
Director: Ryan Coogler
Cast: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o
Synopsis: Following the death of his father, T’Challa returns home to his isolated and technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. However, after an old enemy emerges, T’Challa is tested and brought into a conflict that puts his kingdom - and the entire world - at risk.
Anticipation Rating: 5/5
In the trailers and featurette, we are introduced to the main character and stunning graphics, then submerged into a technologically advanced world that seemingly conspires with the one we are currently living in today. It is, at the same time, cinematically intriguing and plot-wise stunning and leaves the viewer wanting to know more, which is a thumbs up from both of us. Also, it’s the first movie from Marvel featuring a predominantly black cast, which means a double thumbs up. After all, diversity is always welcomed! |
A Wrinkle in Time (March 9)

Anticipation Rating: 3.5/5
Ah Disney, always the one to show us that creativity and jaw dropping imagination along with beautiful cinematic shots can, and will, never fail. We anticipate this film solely because of the scientific exploration and imagination that Disney is always able to provide. It’s ranked at 3.5 because if it's anything like Tomorrowland, which it quite resembles, it will provide breathtaking graphics but fall a little short in logic.

Cast: Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton
Synopsis: After being held in a secret facility against their will, five young mutants must fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
Anticipation Rating: 4/5
This movies is the first of its kind to marry a superhero movie as a horror film, so it's pretty hard not to feel the least bit excited. The trailer provided by 20th Century Fox is utterly chilling, opening with an interview between a young girl and a psychiatric doctor in which their conversation isn't something simple to scoff at, even though it is a three-question/three-response conversation. Our anticipation is based upon this film being the first, to our knowledge, as Marvel's attempt at crossing a superhero(s) upbringing in a horror style. |
Avengers: Infinity Wars (May 4)
Director: Joe & Anthony Russo
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Brolin
Director: Joe & Anthony Russo
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Brolin
Synopsis: The Avengers and their allies must defeat the powerful Thanos before he destroys the universe.
Anticipation Rating: 5/5
As a huge Avengers and Marvel fan, I’ve been counting down the days to this film. Whether it was scrolling through social media for set pics or rewatching the movies or trailers, there was nothing else in the world that could satisfy my anticipation for the third Avengers film. When fans finally got the trailer we’ve been waiting for for a long time, nothing else mattered. Our minds were blown by the awesomeness that this movie will have by having all the major superheroes from previous MCU movies in the same film (which is a lot of characters by the way), and that this will be the culmination of all those Marvel movies. Seriously, who isn’t excited to see the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy on the same screen.

Incredibles 2 (June 15)

Director: Brad Bird
Cast: Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson
Synopsis: Starting off from the previous movie, superhero Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) is left to care for his son Jack-Jack while Helen (Elastigirl) is out saving the world.
Anticipation Rating: 5/5
Being a sequel to the already masterly animated Pixar film “Incredibles,” it's only logical to be excited. The first film provided a simple-to-follow plot and the comedic imagination of “What if superheroes were not wanted anymore,” following Bob Parr, a frustrated claims adjuster for a corrupt insurance company, and his journey back into the blue-collar limelight. Plus, fans have literally had to wait 14 years for this sequel! *(updated to February 22, 2019)
