I hope you had your tissue boxes ready, ladies and gentlemen. For those of you who missed the only chance to get in your feels, at a Sam Smith concert, this is what you missed.
Sam Smith: The Thrill Of It All Tour came to the Bay Area on September 4,2018 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland California. He also continued his tour at the Sap Center in San Jose California on September 5,2018. The Grammy Award winning artist blessed the Bay Area with his hits like “Pray” and also another one from his album like “Palace”. If you weren't able to be blessed by the god himself, this is how the concert went down.
American singer-songwriter Beth Ditto opened up the night Sam Smith. After Aginizily waiting for Sam Smith to take the stage, the moment we all have been waiting for was finally here. The area suddenly became dark and the energy in the room escalated, he was emerged from the stage floor, spot light on him as the crowd roared while he sang his heart out. He started off by singing “Burn” a single from his new album.
The night was just what I imagined it to be. In a sense I can connect to the words Sam Smith sings, Which makes this concert, “The Thrill Of It All Tour”on my top five list. Sam Smith made it feel like he was interacting with the crowd all night. When he sang it was clear and it was loud, the tempo throughout the night was very slow, but that’s what got the audience in there feels. Every word he sang touched my heart with a meaning. Any problem I had going on that day just disappeared as he sang.
Towards the middle of his concert he asked for everyone in the arena to take their phones out and turn their flashlights on. He literally lit up the whole arena as he sang his song “Latched” from his previous album.
Even though Sam Smith’s music is super depressing, he filled his concert with fun and excitement, there was never a dull moment. So next time Sam Smith comes to the bay I highly recommend not missing out.
