In the beginning of the drama, there were a lot of suspects for the mistress of Sung Joon. I didn’t know who it was, because everyone was acting suspicious. The scenes were dimmed down for the most part, which sets the atmosphere of the storyline. I found them to be amazing because I got mesmerized in the storyline and felt like something was going on like other dark dramas (thriller, horror, crime, etc.).
As the drama progressed, I got hooked in by the several plot twists that drove me crazy and filled with rage. I especially got mad after finding out who was in an affair with Sung Joon, who was the new employee, Yoo Ri. The reason why she had an affair with Sung Joon was because she felt connected to Sung Joon because they were facing the same hardship and she believes that she is destined to Sung Joon. Yoo Ri envied Jung Sun because she had everything from wealth to love. But, it was not okay for her to sabotage Jung Sun’s married life believing that she can have Sung Joon if she hurts their marriage. Yoo Ri is delusional, in my opinion, I do have to agree that Pyo Ye Jin who played as Yoo Ri played it well because I wished that I could punch Yoo Ri in the face as a wake up call. |
What I liked about the drama is that there was a lot of women empowerment. Especially Tae Young, who is the new female president of the company. She came to the position of power by overthrowing her brother, Jae Woong, because of his corruption within the company and his love affairs. Most of the women in this drama show support to one and another through the hardships of working in a corrupt company and their personal affairs.

It’s not just the women empowerment that I liked, it’s also the fact that the ending took another turn in V.I.P. usually in a melodrama. The main character always wins when it comes to revenge or romance. However, instead of a perfect revenge on her husband, Sung Joon, Jung Sun decided to end their relationship in a mutual way. I find it bittersweet because I expected the ending to end with a perfect revenge or reconcile between the couples and the misunderstanding. But, the ending was great in a different way.
V.I.P. is mostly about marriage, love affairs, secrets, and corruption within the company and employees. It’s a melodrama that gets me up on my toes, with all of the cliffhangers. I am begging for more episodes to come out!
