I’m sure by now many of you are aware that Selena Gomez recently released a song that has hit number 1 on Billboard top 100 for the first time. For those who have been a fan since the beginning, know she was first introduced to us in Barney (the American television series). However, she wasn’t recognized until she entered the Disney industry. She appeared in one episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody as Gwen, some episodes in Hannah Montana as Mikayla, and starred in the Wizards of Waverly Place as Alex. Because of her work with children in hospitals and even being a UNICEF ambassador where she helped children in need she has been looked up to as a role model.
It’s safe to say she hit us hard with this song after her little break. She stayed away from social media and we didn’t hear anything about her on any of the tabloids. She claimed that she was getting really stressed and overwhelmed, which is what led her to take a break from everything. Fans were quite anxious wondering if she was working on anything special or was simply taking a little break for just herself. Little did we know it was both, she was giving herself some time and working on music too. When she came back she suggested that everyone should do it once in a while to destress and detox.
“My first number 1!! This song is so dear to my heart. I’ve been working so hard to make this album as honest and fun as possible while remaining vulnerable enough to share where I am in life,” says Gomez in an Instagram post. “Lose you to Love Me,” is a special and personal song to her which has now become a guessing game of who the song is about. Some say it’s about Justin Bieber while others say it’s about The Weekend. And to be frank, who cares who the song is about? Until she spills the beans on whether or not it even is about someone, there should be no jumping to conclusions.
Gomez is really proud of her song and we should be supporting her and enjoying her music, not focusing on the inside scoop of her personal life. According to her interview on 97.1 MP Radio, she was hesitant to even release this song in the first place because it was meant for just her.
I honestly love the song and you can really hear her emotions in this song. The lyrics hit hard on people who are trying to let go of things, move on, and appreciate themselves. Many had different experiences with the song which is what is so great about it. Kudos to Selena Gomez and all her success over the years.
