Due to recent events in my own life, I found myself searching for stories that could make me forget my own - even for just a little while. As I went through several book aisles I came across Pillow Thoughts by Courtney Peppernell. This is a book full of messages and thoughts for anyone who is in love, heartbroken, or lost. The raw, subtle, and sometimes intense emotions are the support you need to heal or just relieve any of the stress you might be going through.
Pillow Thoughts is divided into nine sections. The first two sections starts the book off with relatable messages about love and relationships. This section of the book can make the heart feel lighter and help you appreciate the positive things in life that you might sometimes take for granted. Reading through all of these takes away many of the things you might be worrying about even for just a few moments.
The book then takes a turn with the next four sections tackle the issues of heartbreak and the many thoughts that come with it. Heartbreak is the main focus, but it soon turns to target the deeper feelings of loneliness and sadness a person is experiencing. It might sound a bit depressing at first to dive into the deeper parts of all of this turmoil in your life, but in reality it mentions how to get out of the feelings and thoughts of negativity in order to be a better you.
If you can get through that painful part of the book, you’re then brought to the last three sections where words of encouragement can completely take the weight off your shoulders and make you rethink any bad decisions you’ve been thinking about doing in the future. All the words you need to be motivated or reassured are sure to be in this book.
Books don’t always have to have a storyline full of adventure and romance. Sometimes just a few relatable words, things we wish we can say out loud, and things we wish people in our lives would say to us can be put into a single book as a source of therapy or inspiration. Pillow Thoughts is an amazing example of a piece that can heal and motivate anyone who picks it up.
